It was a huge and explosive start to Monday Night RAW as three of the top wrestlers clashed with each other to determine the number one contender for the WWE Championship at Summer Slam.
Summer Slam is an important Pay per View where some of the best wrestlers in the world clash against each other to determine the best in the squared ring. The legend killer, Randy Orton clashed with the ultimate opportunist, Edge and the first ever undisputed champion, Chris Jericho. This was an all-important match as the winner would get the opportunity to face the WWE Champion with the championship belt on the line.
The match started as Chris Jericho and Edge teamed up with each other to fight Randy Orton. In a triple threat match, it was every man for himself but both Chris Jericho and Edge knew that Randy Orton was the most dangerous man in the match and they needed to get him out at all costs. But Randy Orton was ready for a combined attack as he punched the head of Chris Jericho and kicked the abdomen of Edge at the same time.
But the power of both wrestlers proved too much for Randy Orton. Chris Jericho and Edge succeeded in kicking Randy Orton out of the ring. Edge pushed Randy Orton from behind and when Randy Orton walked back, Chris Jericho delivered a devastating Code Breaker. Chris Jericho went for the cover. But before the referee could count to three, Edge attacked Chris Jericho and broke the three-count.
That was the time when Edge and Chris Jericho focused their energies on each other and adopted the attack mode. Edge took Chris Jericho outside the ring and banged his head on the announcers table. Chris Jericho replied the favour as he threw Edge to the boundary wall. Edge collided with it and then fell on the concrete floor.
The match was heating up as all the wrestlers were fighting for an opportunity of a life time. It is obvious that the chance to fight at the main event of Summer Slam with the prestigious WWE Championship on the line means a lot to WWE wrestlers. Chris Jericho then picked up Edge and dropped him on the boundary wall. It seemed that Edge was hit pretty hard as he screamed in pain. Edge and Chris Jericho both rolled into the ring where the viper, Randy Orton was waiting for his prey. Randy Orton was ready to hit his finisher.
The apex predator of WWE, Randy Orton delivered an R. K. O to Chris Jericho. Randy Orton grabbed the neck of Chris Jericho and smashed his face on the ring floor. As a result, Chris Jericho was down and out. But before Randy Orton could go for the cover, Edge came from behind and attacked Randy Orton in order to stop him from winning the match.
Orton was ready for an attack from the ultimate opportunist who delivered the R. K. O to Edge as well. It seemed that everyone sitting in the crowd was cheering for Randy Orton who was going strong in the match. It was easy for Randy Orton to go for the cover on any wrestler in order to win the match. Randy Orton chose Edge and went for the cover as the referee counted to three.
Randy Orton raised his head with pride as he became the number one contender for the WWE Championship after a long time. Randy Orton proved to the professional wrestling world why he is called as the apex predator of WWE. Though Randy Orton has become the number one contender but no one knows what will happen to the WWE Championship with The Miz still holding onto his contract after the Money in the Bank match.
